Art Expo

Art Expo

Good afternoon :)) Today our whole school went around to different classes to explore our amazing art. Every child got to have a chance to create and display an artwork. My favourite thing that I saw was the Indian elephants because The year 2's explained it so well that it made me research all about them, Some of them are from Diwali,They come from a tropical place too!! I'm pretty sure that the Indian elephant is one of the largest land mammals on Earth. The trunk of the Asian elephant has two finger-like structures at its tip that allow the animal to perform both delicate and powerful movements. Elephants have long, coarse hairs sparsely covering their body. Their skin is brown to dark gray.

This day turned out really good I hope that we do this again!!. By the way this painting is mine :)))

The main reason we attend school is to gain the skills and education needed to live successfully. School also teaches us social skills we will need in our future

What school looks like

(your desk) and books, pens, pencils and more. School has heaps of technology like Computers, laptops,iPad's you name it.

Collage

Conclusion: College is the last thing you want to think about but it's really important to life because it helps you with your future/job. Paul Bunyan

Good morning, This term's animation was about myths and legends so I picked Paul Bunyan. Sorry I didn't get to finish my animation, But I can explain some of the story, On one cold night Paul Bunyan went out to the wood,He cut down some trees till he heard some loud sounds coming from all the snow. He walked closer and closer to the sound till he stepped on something, He looked under his foot and saw a big blue ox, He didn't know what to do with it so he walked near a fire and put the ox on it till it unfreeze. Once it was warm again he always played with him, walked with him and all sorts of stuff that a owner would do, named it babe. They walked for a really long time, they both had big feet so they left some foot steps. So that's how The Great Lakes got the name ( from there big foot steps). Thank you for taking your time out of your day to come look at my blog :) Next's term i'll finish off my animation so I can show you it.

Maori Language Moment

In 1972 there were 30,000 signatures were delivered to parliament to safe guard the Maori language
Safe guard means (protect) the Maori language need to be protected.
3 reasons why I think needed to be protected.
1. The language might fade away

2. It can still be used in the future

3. In schools Te Reo Maori wasn't valued as much
Kia Kaha Te Reo Maori

Traditional Tongan cooking

Today Rm 5 are finding some interesting things from Tonga (my Home Land )

Tongan people cook their food underneath the ground it's called a (umu) we eat all sorts of food taro,
coconut, horse... , pork , keke (tongan donuts, faikakai, Ufi Lolo i, Lu sipi, Raw fish, Otai ( a drink )
Umu is mainly like an underground oven that cooks heaps of yummy food.
Tongans use taro leaves, rocks, fire, much to make umus
they wrap the food into taro leaves and tin foil. After they wrap them all up the put the food underneath the
ground and cover it with all the leave. After its cooked they unwrap the food and say the lotu (the prayer)
and then eat it.

Matariki

Last week on Friday Pt England School had a big event, It was a Matariki day.

Matariki is about celebrating the Maori New Year.

In the sky at night from 13 - 16 July you can see 7 - 9 stars.

My highlight from the Matariki day was play sports over and over again. I forgot the name of the game but it seemed really fun.

The whole New Zealand should copy Gleen Innes and put up some matariki lights, It would look really cool the whole country would be glowing and the reason why we should celebrate it is because of people, culture, language, spirituality and history. Matariki is also when you get together with your family and friends, watch Kapa Haka  performance, Talk to others about the past history and lots more.

Hopefully you know some celebration facts of matariki it would be really cool to learn it.

Taha Whanau/ Games at home

In lock down I played a game with my big sister Roezala

Here are the rules of the game you have to hit the other person with a jandel and try hit them in the face like tag but a hard way.I won because I got the tip of her face. She lost because I got her in the face and because she kinda chickened out. Nope it didn't come to a draw because i'm the best at that game.
It was really fun watch my sister run away from me and watching my parents laugh at us because we were both screaming at each other. It competitive because we were actually both hiding in hiding places but we manged to find each other anyways.
